Hello! I’m Sheleen, and welcome to Little Milk Diaries, a place where I share my tips and tricks for breastfeeding.
As a mum of 3 beautiful children, I learnt the hard way, breastfeeding especially my first child. So here I am sharing with you my experiences. I want to be able to encourage and support you in the best way that I can as it is not an easy job when you are new to it.
How My Journey Began.
Before having children I studied and worked as a school teacher for children 11-18 in Art and Design and Design and Technology. I learnt so much about how to handle children, (it wasn’t easy) but it helped me plan and prepare for my children. After 7 years of teaching, I got married to a wonderful man and we had our first child. I wanted to take the time off work to embrace the early years of childhood for my little one.
After I gave birth to my daughter, I had a hard time. I had her through the forceps procedure and the afterbirth healing took a while but I was determined to breastfeed her. After experiencing cracked nipples, breast engorgement, low milk supply and a hungry baby, I became depressed and very anxious.
Although I had my family around there was no one who was breastfeeding or done so in years. There were support groups but they were miles away! The health visitor would come every 2 weeks for 45 mins so I didn’t get the support I needed. So I would watch videos, ask friends and deal with the pain.
After my first, I got an understanding of how to breastfeed. I then went on to tell my friends and family who started their breastfeeding journey.

What Did I Learn?
I learnt not to be afraid of breastfeeding and that it is a natural thing to do, our female bodies were made to do this. I learnt to be patient with the process and that making mistakes is okay. Having too much doubt can cause you to give up but even that little bit of hope will help. The main thing I got from this process is just to relax! After giving birth to my second baby and third baby I had a better birth experience because I learnt just to relax and let my body do the work, this is the same with breastfeeding.
